The initiative is expected to establish a trusted cloud ecosystem capable of supporting government services, businesses and emerging technologies while encouraging greater private sector participation in Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
Framework to Strengthen Digital Sovereignty
The newly signed regulatory framework provides the governance structure for implementing Nigeria’s sovereign cloud strategy, ensuring that sensitive government and critical national data can be securely stored and processed within the country.
According to NITDA, the framework is designed to improve confidence in cloud services by establishing standards that promote security, resilience and compliance while reducing dependence on foreign-hosted infrastructure.
