Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) to train more than 600 young Nigerians in practical digital skills, as both organisations seek to improve youth employability and expand access to opportunities in the digital economy.
The partnership will be delivered through a 10-day Digital Bootcamp Programme across Abuja, Rivers, Kaduna and Ondo, with participants receiving industry-relevant training in areas including project management, data analysis, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, IT support and digital marketing.
Training Targets Underserved Young Nigerians
The programme is designed to reach a broad group of young people, including graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, women and youths from low-income communities.
The partners said the initiative is intended to address gaps in digital skills while improving participants’ prospects for employment, entrepreneurship and wider participation in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
The focus on practical skills reflects the increasing demand for workers who can apply technology to business and professional challenges rather than relying solely on conventional academic qualifications.
Six Digital Skills Areas on the Curriculum
Participants will be trained across six major areas:
- Project management
- Data analysis
- Cybersecurity
- UI/UX design
- IT support
- Digital marketing
The curriculum is structured around skills with applications across multiple industries, potentially giving participants a broader range of career and entrepreneurial pathways.
Standard Chartered Adds Employee Mentorship
The initiative will extend beyond financial support from the bank.
Employees of Standard Chartered will participate through the organisation’s Skills-Based Volunteering programme, providing mentorship and sharing practical knowledge drawn from their professional experience.
