Dangote Cement Sets London Investor Day Ahead of Proposed LSE Listing

.

Dangote Cement Plc is set to host investors and other market stakeholders in London on September 21, 2026, as the cement manufacturer advances preparations for its proposed secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

The company said the Capital Markets Day (CMD) will provide investors with an opportunity to gain deeper insight into its strategy, operations and business priorities, while also engaging directly with members of its senior management.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on September 2 and signed by the company’s Secretary, Edward Imoedemhe.

London Roadshow Targets Global Investors

The London event represents an important step in Dangote Cement’s effort to broaden its shareholder base beyond Nigeria and improve engagement with international investors.

According to the company, presentation materials from the Capital Markets Day will subsequently be made available to the market in line with applicable disclosure requirements.

Details of the event’s agenda and logistics will be released later.

The planned engagement comes after Dangote Cement’s May 12 notice on the proposed secondary listing and the subsequent approval of shareholders for the transaction.

Company Targets About 10% Share Sale

The proposed London listing forms part of a wider international capital-market strategy by Dangote Group.

Group President Aliko Dangote had earlier disclosed that Dangote Cement intends to pursue a dual listing in London, with approximately 10% of the company’s shares expected to be sold to external investors as part of the transaction.

The cement producer had explored the possibility of a London listing as far back as 2018, but the plan did not materialise amid stringent UK listing requirements and the competing demands associated with the development of Dangote’s massive refinery project in Nigeria.

Changes introduced to UK listing rules by the Financial Conduct Authority have since made the London market more attractive to the company.

The proposed listing could give Dangote Cement greater visibility among international institutional investors and provide another avenue for investors seeking exposure to Africa’s largest cement producer.

Strong Earnings Underpin Expansion Push

Dangote Cement is approaching the proposed London engagement after reporting substantial growth in its first-half 2026 financial performance.

The company recorded N981.39 billion in profit before tax for the six months ended June 30, 2026, representing a 34.43% increase from the N730.03 billion recorded during the same period in 2025.

Profit after tax also climbed by 22.69%, while earnings per share increased to N38.22, compared with N30.74 a year earlier.

The stronger earnings provide a solid financial backdrop as the company seeks to increase its appeal to international investors and strengthen its position in global capital markets.

London Listing Fits Wider Dangote Capital Strategy

The proposed LSE transaction is not an isolated capital-market initiative for Dangote Industries.

The group has also announced plans to take its Dangote Refinery, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, to multiple African stock exchanges.

Dangote had disclosed in April that about 10% of the refinery could be listed across multiple African exchanges to raise funds for its next phase of expansion.

Taken together, the proposed listings point to a broader strategy of using domestic, international and regional capital markets to support the expansion of Dangote’s industrial businesses.

Market Awaits Details of Proposed Deal

While the London investor event marks a significant milestone, the proposed secondary listing remains subject to the necessary processes and market considerations.

Dangote Cement’s London push comes at a time when the company is seeking to strengthen its international investor profile while retaining its existing presence on the Nigerian Exchange.

The September 21 Capital Markets Day will therefore give potential investors an opportunity to assess the company’s growth strategy, operational outlook and financial position ahead of the proposed UK market debut.

If completed, the secondary listing would give Dangote Cement a presence on both the Nigerian and London markets, potentially expanding its access to international capital while increasing global visibility for one of Africa’s largest industrial companies.
