AVA Capital Plc has officially joined the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Main Board, marking a significant milestone in the company’s corporate journey and adding another indigenous financial services firm to Nigeria’s growing capital market.
The company was admitted to the Exchange through a Listing by Introduction, a process that allows existing shares to be traded publicly without issuing new shares or raising fresh capital. The listing underscores AVA Capital’s ambition to expand its market presence while reinforcing transparency, corporate governance and long-term value creation.
Milestone Signals New Phase of Growth
The listing ceremony, held at the Nigerian Exchange in Lagos, attracted regulators, capital market operators, investors and business leaders, who gathered to celebrate the company’s admission to the Exchange.
Speaking during the event, Chairman of AVA Capital Plc, Dr. Yinka Adedeji, described the listing as a defining moment in the company’s evolution. He said the move reflects the strength of the firm’s governance framework, strategic vision and commitment to creating sustainable value for shareholders while contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Fadahunsi, noted that becoming a publicly listed company represents more than a corporate achievement, describing it as a renewed commitment to transparency, innovation, disciplined execution and long-term value creation for investors and clients alike.
No Fresh Capital Raise
Unlike an Initial Public Offering (IPO), the listing by introduction does not involve selling new shares to investors.
Instead, AVA Capital’s existing shareholders now have their holdings traded on the Exchange, a move expected to improve liquidity, broaden the company’s shareholder base and enhance its visibility among institutional and retail investors.
The company listed 5 billion ordinary shares at a reference price of ₦7.50 per share, giving it an opening market capitalisation of approximately ₦37.5 billion. The stock trades under the ticker symbol AVACAP.
Expanding Nigeria’s Financial Services Sector
AVA Capital serves as the investment banking arm of the AVA Capital Group, whose businesses span investment banking, asset management, securities trading and trusteeship, providing financial solutions to institutional, corporate and individual clients.
Its admission to the NGX is expected to strengthen its profile within Nigeria’s financial services industry while positioning the company for future expansion opportunities in an increasingly competitive investment landscape.
Boost for Nigeria’s Capital Market
The listing also represents another positive development for Nigeria’s capital market, which has witnessed increased activity from indigenous financial institutions seeking greater access to public investors.
Commenting on the admission, NGX Chief Executive Officer Jude Chiemeka said AVA Capital’s decision to join the Main Board demonstrates continued confidence in the Nigerian capital market as a platform for sustainable business growth.
According to him, publicly listed companies benefit from enhanced corporate governance, improved transparency and access to a broader investor base, all of which contribute to long-term value creation.
Strong Debut on the Exchange
Market data showed that AVA Capital enjoyed a positive start to trading after its admission.
By the close of its debut trading period, the stock had appreciated by 10%, ending at ₦8.25 per share. It also ranked among the week’s most actively traded equities by volume, reflecting strong investor interest in the newly listed company.
Deepening Market Participation
Industry analysts say the listing reflects the continued evolution of Nigeria’s capital market, where more homegrown financial institutions are embracing public markets to improve governance standards, enhance visibility and strengthen investor confidence.
As the Exchange continues to attract new listings across different sectors, AVA Capital’s debut is expected to contribute to market depth while offering investors another opportunity to participate in Nigeria’s expanding financial services industry.
With its transition to a publicly traded company now complete, AVA Capital begins a new chapter focused on strengthening shareholder value, expanding its financial services footprint and supporting capital formation within Africa’s largest economy.
