FCSL Asset Management has launched InvestEd+, a mobile investment education platform designed to help Nigerians better understand the capital market before committing real money.
The application combines live Nigerian Exchange (NGX) market data with simulated trading, educational videos and a plain-language financial glossary, giving prospective investors an opportunity to build market knowledge and confidence through practice.
Learning Before Investing
The launch comes against a backdrop of relatively low participation by younger Nigerians in the capital market, with unfamiliar financial terminology and limited market knowledge often creating barriers for first-time investors.
InvestEd+ is designed to address that gap by treating investment knowledge as a skill that can be developed gradually rather than something new investors are expected to understand immediately.
The platform’s central message, “Learn. Invest. Grow.”, reflects its emphasis on education and preparation before actual market participation.
Demo Trading Uses Live Market Conditions
One of the app’s main features is Demo Mode, which allows users to simulate trades in NGX-listed securities using virtual funds.
The simulation is linked to live market pricing, meaning users can practise making investment decisions under real market conditions without putting actual money at risk.
The feature is intended to help users become familiar with how the market operates and develop confidence before making investment decisions with their own funds.
Glossary Simplifies Market Language
InvestEd+ also includes a financial glossary designed to translate investment terminology into simpler, everyday language.
For new investors, unfamiliar terms can make the stock market appear more complicated than it is. FCSL’s approach is to provide explanations within the same platform so users can refer to them while learning about the market.
The application also features a Video Learning Library, offering short educational content aimed at helping users build financial knowledge progressively.
FCSL Targets Younger Investors
According to FCSL Asset Management Chief Executive Officer, Tope Omojokun, the platform was developed partly in response to low participation among younger Nigerians who may be interested in investing but lack sufficient understanding of how the market works.
Omojokun said the company wants users to develop confidence through learning and simulated market experience before committing capital.
The launch is supported by FCSL’s #LearnedConfidence campaign, which presents investment knowledge as something that can be deliberately developed through informed decisions.
Three Decades in Capital Markets
FCSL Asset Management has operated in Nigeria’s capital market since 1994, providing investment and wealth-management services to clients.
The company said InvestEd+ extends its focus on improving access to the capital market to a newer generation by providing educational tools alongside market information.
The move also reflects a broader shift among financial institutions toward using digital platforms to make investment information easier for prospective investors to access.
The Bigger Picture
InvestEd+ arrives at a time when technology is changing how Nigerians access financial information and participate in the capital market.
By combining market data, simulated trading and educational resources in one application, FCSL is seeking to reduce some of the knowledge barriers that can discourage first-time investors.
The app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play, according to FCSL.
For the Nigerian capital market, the longer-term test will be whether initiatives such as InvestEd+ can translate greater financial literacy into sustained, informed participation and help create a new generation of investors who understand the market before putting their capital at risk.
