Fourteen companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) are scheduled to hold Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and one Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) between September 14 and September 30, 2026, creating a busy month of shareholder engagement across several sectors.
A review of the latest NGX X-Compliance Report published on September 4 shows that the meetings cut across insurance, agriculture, oil and gas, consumer goods, logistics, publishing, technology and manufacturing.
Beyond routine shareholder engagement, the meetings will give investors an opportunity to scrutinise financial results, consider dividend proposals, vote on board matters and assess the strategic direction of the companies.
September 14–17 Meetings Open the Calendar
Northern Nigeria Flour Mills Plc will open the September calendar with its AGM on September 14 in Kano.
The company’s financial performance has weakened sharply. Revenue for the year ended March 31, 2026, fell to N21.5 billion from N35.3 billion, while profit before tax (PBT) plunged 96.1% to N112.7 million, largely due to weaker sales in its agricultural products business, particularly maize.
On September 15, Presco Plc will hold its AGM virtually. The agro-industrial company enters the meeting on a stronger footing after recording a 57.4% increase in FY2025 PBT to N177.98 billion. Shareholders are expected to consider a proposed final dividend of N14.66 per share, which would bring total FY2025 dividends, including the interim payment, to N44.66 per share.
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc will hold its virtual AGM on September 16. For the year ended March 31, 2026, revenue declined 3.4% to N360.85 billion, but PBT rose 3.3% to N21.90 billion, while profit after tax increased 13% to N16.49 billion. The company has also returned to the dividend register with a proposed 20 kobo per share payout.
The following day, Oando Plc and Red Star Express Plc will both hold virtual AGMs.
Oando’s FY2025 revenue declined 22.2% to N3.18 trillion, while PBT fell 64.6% to N135.76 billion. However, profit after tax rose to N204.8 billion, helped by tax credits and increased crude production, which averaged 32,482 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Red Star Express recorded more moderate growth, with revenue rising 8.5% to N23.49 billion and PBT increasing 16.2% to N1.07 billion. The logistics company has proposed a 45 kobo dividend, up from 35 kobo previously.
September 23 Brings Mixed Corporate Fortunes
Secure Electronic Technology Plc will hold its AGM on September 23 after reporting a difficult FY2025.
Revenue declined 2.4% to N4.24 billion, while the company recorded a N166.79 million loss before tax and an equivalent loss after tax. It will not pay a dividend, while total assets declined 8.1% to N4.45 billion.
Also on September 23, African Alliance Insurance Plc will convene an EGM amid continuing financial and capital pressures.
The insurer’s FY2022 financial statements showed a retained earnings deficit of N38.08 billion, shareholders’ equity of N3.94 billion and insurance contract liabilities of N40.11 billion. Its recovery remains dependent on capital injection, improved underwriting performance and stronger balance-sheet management.
September 24 Emerges as Busiest Meeting Day
September 24 will be the busiest day on the calendar, with five companies scheduled to hold shareholder meetings.
Coronation Insurance Plc enters its AGM with strong growth in insurance revenue, which increased 51.4% to N74.83 billion, while net insurance and investment revenue rose 149% to N17.68 billion.
Despite this improvement, PBT fell 30.4% to N9.65 billion, while profit after tax declined 36.8% to N7.52 billion, largely because the company did not repeat the significant foreign-exchange gains recorded in 2024.
Learn Africa Plc recorded a stronger earnings performance, with PBT and profit after tax both increasing 59% to N1.19 billion and N753.11 million respectively.
University Press Plc, meanwhile, recorded a 14% increase in revenue to N3.89 billion, but PBT fell 37.2% to N389.52 million. The company has proposed an 18 kobo per share dividend.
Also scheduled for September 24 are Academy Press Plc and Juli Plc.
Omatek Closes September Calendar
Omatek Ventures Plc will round off the month’s shareholder meetings with its AGM on September 30.
The September calendar also includes Lasaco Assurance Plc, which had already held its virtual AGM on September 3.
The concentration of meetings provides investors with an opportunity to compare companies operating under very different market conditions, from businesses delivering stronger earnings and dividends to firms dealing with losses, weak margins or balance-sheet constraints.
Investors to Watch Dividends, Strategy and Capital Plans
The September AGMs will give shareholders a platform to examine earnings performance, dividend decisions, board resolutions, capital structure changes and future business strategies.
The contrast among the companies is particularly significant. Presco, Honeywell Flour Mills, Red Star Express and Learn Africa are heading into their meetings with improved earnings, while Northern Nigeria Flour Mills, Secure Electronic Technology and African Alliance Insurance face more substantial operational or financial challenges.
With five meetings scheduled for September 24 alone and several companies opting for virtual participation, the month’s AGM season is expected to provide investors with fresh insight into corporate performance and management priorities across the NGX.
Shareholders, however, are advised to confirm final meeting dates, venues and resolutions with the respective company registrars before making investment or attendance decisions.
